Betty

I was standing in the corner of a train station near the University where I work. I was playing on my phone minding my own business. A random young man, a university student, comes near me and I think he tried to steal a glance at my screen. He then muttered in Cantonese, something about me being a nasty/disgusting/horny girl. He must have assumed that he didn’t think I could understand. I understood every single word.

I should have called him out on it since I was on the platform surrounded by people, but I was simply too shocked to act. And despite the fact that I’m well educated and know how wrong it was for him to do that, I’m so angry I didn’t do anything. And I’m angry that we women have to live in a world where we are harassed even when we are going about our daily business.
