Polly

At a karate lesson last week I was the only woman there (I’m 16), which isn’t unusual at this class. However, as we were sparring, the instructor told one of the others in the class (not my partner) to “Stop being such a girl!” Before turning to me and saying “No offence intended”. He said that being a girl was a bad thing, but promptly told me not to get offended by it? Normally the instructors are quite good at not being sexist, but some of the other men in the class can also be annoying, such as refusing to attack properly meaning I can’t learn to defend from actual attacks.
