Alessia

I’m 23 and I’m a midwife in the north of Italy, I look younger than my age but I try to be very professional. Everyday I go to work and all the dads I meet (even their wives aka my patients) call me “signorina” that means “young lady” and ask me if I am a “real doctor” and if I am able to do it alone without any supervision (in Italy to be a midwife you have to get a University degree and pass a national exam). I’m so sick of it. I feel degradate and not taken seriously, I am very good at my job and when people let me do it and trust me they start to recognize it but it’s always very hard for me.
