A guy in my class is extremely sexist. him and his friends make rape jokes and make sexist comments ‘as a joke’. He’s relatively smart, and obviously thinks he’s a misunderstood genius. The truth is he’s a mediocre student and uses other people’s weaknesses to make himself seem smarter. Im the only person in my class (who’s not a guy) that’s smarter than him, yet him and his little boy band does literally everything to prove that they’re better than me. Anyway, we were in chemistry class today and the teacher asked for volunteers, naturally it was me and him. the teacher told me to measure some acid in a measuring cylinder, so I opened the lid and poured some into the cylinder. He immediately snatched it from my hands and proceeded to do both his and my part. The teacher (a woman) laughed it off and said that she’ll give me another role because I ‘let him’ do my job. He proceeded to order me around and told me what to do the entire time. I felt horrible, but couldn’t really say anything because it seemed like it was too small and I didn’t want to make a scene in front of the whole class. I just hate that it keeps happening on a daily basis and no body notices it, and egg en if they do they won’t do anything.

I work for an engineering consultancy. We are meeting a supplier for cathodic protection systems. At multiple points through the meeting a senior male colleague interrupts the supplier and, looking at me, says: “We might want to clarify some things first we have some girls in the team who might not know what corrosion is”, “Hold up, I wouldn’t use the word ‘anode’ am seeing this girl here look confused”. He blatantly only addresses this at me and not at the other people there, all male. I have a master’s degree in engineering and won awards for chemistry as a teenager. But I have a vagina so that means I am unfamiliar with bloody middle school-level physics. I bet this f*cker wouldn’t be able to draw a diagram of a galvanic cell if you put one in front of him.
