I’m a senior leader in an all male leadership team in education. Every meeting, my boss greeted me with ‘Hi, you look nice’ and my male colleagues with ‘Hi, good to see you.’ Eventually I pointed this out to him and asked him to just treat us all the same please. Next meeting: ‘Hi, you look nice, even though you don’t want me to say that anymore.’ After a few more weeks I got brave. Next meeting, I greeted him with ‘Hi, your skin looks lovely.’ He finally got it and has not mentioned my appearance since.

Nearly every school I have heard of bans girls from wearing tight trousers and short skirts. WHY??? It’s distracting!?!? It’s unprofessional?!?!? I have seen many women how look professional and smart and wear short skirts or tight trousers. And then they worry about our self-esteem.. well if you comment on how we look all the time then it wouldn’t be as much of a problem?? SURELY, it should matter what is going on in our brain than how we look? The amount of girls that are sent home so MISS SCHOOL because of their skirt length. Is it just me that finds this so wrong? I am currently doing my GCSEs and all that my school seems to reallllyyy care about is our skirt length. These senior leadership and school system needs to seriously set their priorities straight.
