the week i turned 12 in the 6th grade was a rollarskating week at my school. so during gym class when i was skating, my friend came up to me and told me that during math (we had separate math classes) that one of my classmates said if he could choose, he would rape me.

When I was in 5th grade me and some friends would get called b****s by some 5th grade boys. It was horrible and it continued until mid high school when they all moved away.

Last year was I was in 1st grade of middle school and it was woman’s day. I think we had started chatting in history class about it (the teacher was female) and then a boy (good student, seemed good) said that women are mops( or something like that). I really couldn’t believe that he actually said that. It seemed ( and still seems) so stupid. If this happens in 1st grade of middle then what will happen in my next years of school? I am SO glad this website exists so that it can ( at least a little) prepare me for what’s waiting in the next years to follow. School will start in about a month. This year I will really try ( because I’m an introvert and shy and not very social) to stand up when people are being sexist.

Another story of mine in 1st grade of middle school was this: because when school started I was very alone and shy and anti social, I didn’t make many friends very quickly. So at break time I’m talking to my classmate from elementary school and another classmate of mine from elementary school comes and asks us if we’re dating. I was so angry and me and the other boy start telling him thing like “No! Of course not! What the heck are you talking about?!” This happened to me again with the same people and it came to a stop when I said to him that it wasn’t nice and he said that he was joking. Just because I’m talking to someone from the opposite sex, it doesn’t mean we’re dating!

This happened when I was 13 and in 7th grade. I was eating lunch alone (I can’t remember why, I usually ate with the same people everyday) and about 6 or so boys came up to me, sat down on the other side of the table and started saying rude, inappropriate, and vulgar things to me. I didn’t even know what the words they were saying meant, I don’t even know if I knew what sex was but I was scared. Another boy, who was friends with the others tried to get them to stop and even told one of the lunch monitors. But she was absolutely zero help and said “Oh they probably just like her.” I will never forget it. Finally, the school social worker who was on lunch duty say the situation and put the boys in lunch detention. That bullying had happened on and off throughout 7th grade but that was worst. Looking back all that bullying was really sexual harassment. Another related incident happened around the same time, I think after the first one, when one of the boys who was in my health class leaned over and told me that he was going to kiss me on the last day of school and I was very freaked out by this. I ended up telling the health teacher and she moved him and gave him detention.

I am 12 years old. A couple of weeks ago, in class, a boy called me a skinny whore. I got mad and tried to say something, but he and his friend just laughed and completely ignored me. The teacher was standing two feet away, but she didn’t say anything. In another class, I saw a boy sexually harass a girl. I’d asked him to stop, but he never did. In fact, pretty much everybody except for me dismissed this as an ordinary middle school occurrence. Then, a little later, I heard a boy and a couple of his friends make dirty, sexist, jokes. This was the boy who the teachers had nominated for the all-around Giant Pride award- meaning that they thought he showed excellent caring, responsibility, and respect. What kind of school is this!? Is this really the kind of world that I live in? I’m moving to a different school next year.

I am only in middle school and I did not even know it could happen. During a mock congress meeting at school, the bill authors were talking and this boy sat next to me. He put his hands on his genitals and began masturbating next to me. He kept looking at my breasts and nudging me. I scooted away and he only moved closer. The room was packed with other middle schoolers and we were not allowed to leave so I could not leave. He then ran his hand from and inch under my pencil skirt down my leg and stroked my foot. He began squeezing it and when I looked at him, he grabbed the keychain from my nearby backpack and asked me where I got it. He had asked that question earlier that day. Later, he continued to sit next to me and rub my knee and even caressed my ear. I have to go to school with him.
