As I reach the age of 20 in a few months, I never thought I would have expected another violation as I’m growing older in an environment such as the school, and especially in a public sphere. I was left perplexed as a bunch of 15-16 year olds felt comfortable enough to touch my backside quite confidently, however when I turn back the accomplice doesn’t come forward and fails to address me, but the laughter and lack of accountability is there. I’m just left saying “What the h*ll are you doing?”, as embarrassing as it is – I had no choice but to let it go, and go on with my day. And over a week later, I think to myself – “Aren’t the younger generations meant to be better?”, no! … The patriarchal ideology never ends, it’s cyclical.
