My dad asked to help him and mom clean the whole flat, like Hoover and wipe the dust and stuff and so I got the cloth and chemicals and he was sat down in an armchair reading a book while me and mom were tidying the place, criticizing how I wipe the dust off every 2 mins or making jokes. Then I got the Hoover while my mom was washing the floors and he was just sitting on the sofa reading a book with coffee, and when I thought I finished he pointed at the fluffy carpet in front of him and was like common work. I was so infuriated because he was literally chilling there while me and my mom were bent over right in front of him and he kept pointing out spots we missed and joking once again, like saying ‘work harder’ in German, our family joke. I got so mad but I kept quiet because I knew if I said something I’d get shouted at for being disrespectful and they wouldn’t get my point, because my mom is fine with this attitude and she thinks it’s the way it’s meant to be and no matter how many times I’ve tried I can’t explain to her why it’s wrong. I love my dad but it’s always like this, he would be relaxing and he would ask us to fetch him something, make him food, wash the dishes, etc and the rare times he helps he makes it seem like we should be nearly honoured that he came down to help and that he should be praised endlessly. I respect that he works hard, but he also gets a lot of holidays, during which he also doesn’t lots of technical stuff to improve out home, but these very often every day moments really get to me.
