My male supervisor tasked me with making training material. He then took over the project by way of micromanaging me effectively removing me from the training development role. Throughout the training development he dismissed every single one of my professional opinions on what should and should not be in the material. After the training, the students mirrored my comments from the development stage. When I pointed this out to him, he told me instead that my assessment of the student’s comments shows that I don’t have experience to evaluate student responses. He states to me in an email “I was actually not surprised of your response after you read the reviews as it indicated that you have not conducted many training classes (or least didn’t represent the response I expect from an instructor will experience) and as such don’t know how to evaluate the student comments. There are actually entire college courses on exam writing, statistical analysis (both qualitative and quantitative) of both the test results and the student evaluations/comments, as well on test design courses.”
I have a BS in Public Health and a MS in Industrial Hygiene. I have been working in this profession for ten years. There is absolutely no reason for him to talk down to me like I’m a small child. The most telling piece, he has never treated my male co-workers in this fashion when they disagree or give a professional opinion.
