Jenna

I am naturally good at sports and I am 18. When kick or hit a ball well I am applauded by guys in my grade. I am good at most things I do ( not bragging) and I always get looks of hatred from guys and appalled looks from girls. I usually do one of two things when a guy assumes he is better at sports than I am (usually not the case if It’s volleyball or soccer); I stand back and let them make a fool out of themselves, or I tell them I am positive I am better at it than they think I am. God forbid the latter! What kills me is that the guy is usually quick to back off because he most likely didn’t even see he was being a sexist jerk, but it’s my female peers who start looking at me like I am a freak for standing up for myself and not being a submissive person. I have always had this happen to me whenever I speak up to defend myself or another minority group and the (usually white cis male) person acts as though nothing they could ever say could deserve the wrath of Jenna. Well I am sick of it! I have never been popular because I say what I want and do not care about offending some jerk(s). I know I have the right to raise my voice, especially when justified and to not be looked as a “crazy b****”. I am smart, strong and I don’t take crap from anyone.

I cursed in front of my dad and husband and they told me that it’s not right for a female to curse at all and that I’m a lesbian for it. To them, I should be a good girl because of that but no, I’d rather be a bad girl instead even though it can get me abused husband by my since good boys never fall for bad girls since they are considered unfeminine lesbians. They want good girls they can feel secure about because they are more feminine

“Formal attire” is one of the top reasons I don’t go to dances. I just don’t like wearing dresses, but everyone’s so shocked when I say I wouldn’t even wear one to a formal dance, so I’m scared of going because I will either be super uncomfortable in a dress or people will think I’m weird because I don’t wear a dress (unless I lie and pretend I’m a lesbian, then it’s normal again)

A man on the school board here in my city–who is also a public figure and runs for office–passed around to his male colleagues vile porn, including bestiality between a horse and a woman, from his computer. The world saw it. It hit the national news. He is still on the school board.

My kids are college-aged. When my daughter has to walk home from a class at night, she calls me on her cell because she is afraid to do it. My son, on the other hand, never makes “talk to me because I’m scared to walk here” calls.

I was doing sit-ups, and the group leader (male) shouted out: “Make that body a beach body!” Through gritted teeth, as my abs lifted off the floor, I yelled back: “Every body is a beach body!”

When I broke up with my boyfriend, who wanted to get married after three months of dating, my mother was horrified. I told her I just didn’t love him. She said if I didn’t get married soon, I’d become selfish and be an unloving mother. She said I needed to marry him and learn to love him. I was too old to let him go and start over. I was 25.

When I asked my boss for a raise in 2017 America, he said, “Your husband has a job and makes bonuses though, doesn’t he?” I stared at him. He laughed like it was a joke. I said, “This concerns me. My husband has nothing to do with this – and if he did, I would still need more income in case he dropped off the earth unexpectedly.” I didn’t get a raise. He said it wasn’t a good time.

the male manager of customer service will tell you without any shame that one of his favorite pasttimes is breaking people’s personal boundaries because he loves the way people act when they are uncomfortable. unfortunately but statistically, women have a higher chance of sexual misconduct or abuse in their background which causes more women on average to be jumpier when their personal boundaries are crossed than men. this means he gets the ‘best’ reaction out of the women, and so whether or not he realizes it, he ends up doing this to the female employees much more repetitively than he does to the male employees. he stands directly next to or above them and tries to get as close as possible to them without touching them. to make them uncomfortable on purpose. because he likes it.

I’m 13, and I’m in seventh grade. Girls are already being groped in school, and being called whores and sluts. It’s horrible and it’s only going to get worse, especially since teachers do nothing.
