I work in a university. I recently had to support a female student who had been told she may not be fit to carry on with her course because she has disclosed to a lecturer that she’d experienced childhood sexual abuse. They thought this meant she would not be able to cope with her course and I should tell her she needed to withdraw. This felt like she was being punished twice and I was angry that she’d be seen as incapable due to the violence others have directed at her.
