When attacked by my former partner, I sustained broken
ribs and hand – which I found out later.
In the scuffle to arrest him, a police officer was pushed back lightly into a hedge.

I was taken to the police station and locked in a room to wait seeing the police doctor. Despite obvious swelling and bruises on my body, I was told the police officer had been scratched by the hedge and was ‘more in need than me’ as they actually had
a job to do. I was a student and a single mum but I guess that meant I was a benefit scrounger? Despite also working.

When asked why I was locked in they said I had to think about my choices in partner.

My partner was a different race to me.

I didn’t see the doctor and after I gave my statement I was told ‘maybe just go to A&E’. I was released at 3am to get a bus alone.
