Maybe 5 years ago now, I was messaging a friend about his party and how I was planning to get home late at night after. I made a comment about how I didn’t want to walk through a local park by myself at night and his response was:
“At worst you’ll get raped so nothing to worry about haha”
My response was a few ellipses, followed by
“Yeah I feel like that wasn’t as funny as you thought it would be”
To which he responded:
“Yeah maybe cab”
I really wish I actually took the time to explain why that was not okay and quite hurtful, but also I know it shouldn’t have been my job to. We’ve never brought it up since.
