I joined a collaboration of senior experts as the only woman last week for the ‘getting to know you session’. The questions to every man around the table (I was due to go last) – “what team do you support? Because allegiance matters.” They might as well have just said – you are not in our gang and peed up the wall. Depressing.
In my 50s I smile it away, but it is not funny – every time I check into a hotel or holiday that I have booked & paid for, to find my husbands name on the room – and every time I complain, I hear some variant of ‘but there is a woman on the board (somewhere)’, we can’t be sexist. AAAAGH
