I work at a grocery store as a cashier and I didn’t know an answer to a question a man asked me. One of my coworkers was in line in front of me and politely corrected me, and in response, the man proceeded to say “She’s cute but she’s not smart.” My coworker told me later that he kept muttering “fucking idiot” under his breath. I felt so patronized and embarrassed, especially since I had just started working there. But mostly I was furious.
